As a strategic consultant to Melbourne Airport, over five years Alex acquired an in-depth understanding of domestic and international travel markets and developed strong relationships with airline executives and tourism bosses.
Prior to this appointment, Alex was at the helm of a Melbourne-based brand agency, working hand-in-hand with Luxury brands and services to create engaging brand interactions across advertising, communications and customer relationship programs.
Alex has a Masters degree in Advertising and is Luxico's national sales and marketing while overseeing relationships with travel and style industry partners.

Prior to founding Luxico with Alex in 2013, Tom was Managing Director of Knight Frank Project Marketing and has held numerous positions with national property development company Mirvac.
Over a career spanning nearly 20 years, Tom has listed and sold thousands of Australian properties and has an extensive industry network.

A travelling Family
Founders Alex and Tom Ormerod live to travel and have always looked for new ways to fund their passion.
With the addition of 2 children, travel became complicated and expensive. Hotel rooms had neither the space nor were they equipped to comfortably accommodate their family.
After leaving the corporate world for a new life, Alex and Tom took an extended trip overseas with their young family.
Not wanting to leave their home empty they organized a series of short-term leases. The extra income would be much needed on their holiday and they liked the idea of having someone to water the plants.
A number of maintenance hiccups combined with a series of guest requests that they weren't on hand to respond to made it clear that they needed someone on the ground to look after guests and their property.
On sharing their experiences with friends they realized they weren't alone. Many loved the concept of short-term leasing but were either deterred by the perceived difficulty or lack of local presence to manage guests and the property.

Alex and Tom soon realized they had started the journey to creating a new service category for up-market accommodation making the experience both easy and rewarding for owners and guests and in the process unlocking the doors to some of Australia's beautiful homes.
