Smell the ocean and feel the sea breeze as you arrive at Blairgowrie Retreat. As you pass the rammed earth pillars you’ll understand why this property has been awarded Best Custom House in 2014 by MBAV, received the rising star award at the 2014 timber design awards and was shortlisted for the Australian interior design awards 2014.
Featuring rammed earth blade walls, interior walls lined with recycled timber and Core 10 Steel bathroom walls, the idea of this house designed by Wolveridge Architects is to be reminded that you are removed from suburban life! And you get to experience it all!
From the entrance, timber flooring flows to the living, dining and kitchen area which faces the front garden, maximizing light through full-height glazing. No matter the season, your every need is catered to. On cold nights curl up in front of the fire with its recycled timber surrounds, while in summer, a meal at the dining table is best enjoyed with the sliding doors open. The fully-equipped kitchen has a glamourous appeal with the combination of timber, black cabinetry and a wall of mirrors, giving you a superb view while preparing your meals.
You’ll discover a good night’s sleep in the second zone, with two bedrooms, bathroom and master suite. In one room, two lime green custom double bunks will win over the younger guests. A further bedroom sits alongside and both share a picture-perfect bathroom, complete with freestanding bath. In the refined master bedroom recycled timber provides comfort and warmth. You’ll happily wake up to the sounds of nature plus, with access to outdoor dining, you can enjoy a private breakfast. While in true luxury retreat style, you have a stunning bespoke ensuite. Meantime, a large fourth bedroom is located downstairs in the third zone.
Finally, a magical experience awaits outdoors. A grassy area offers room to move while a generous deck and alfresco dining area features laser-cut steel. The shadows cast make for a memorable BBQ and provides the perfect environment to enjoy a stunning sunset.
